First post

The beginning.
This is an attempt to articulate why teaching has to change.
As a long time teacher in South Australia, I have been witness to enormous changes to what we call knowledge.
Part of our job as teacher is to efficiently transfer the collective knowledge of society to the next generation.
Fortunately, that not our only job. Why fortunately?
Because that has been taken over by the Internet.
However, too many teachers have not realised this and teach thinking they are the font of all knowledge. I know, because, until recently I was one of them.

I know that is not true not.

My work in this blog is to build up a case (which will be for the teachers I work with in the first instance) to show that traditional, "empty-vessel" methods of teaching are going to be useless in the next few years - if not already.

To get a better feel for how significant these changes are, check out this TED video by on the next 5000 days of the web.
